Preparing your wardrobe for the fall

Preparing your wardrobe for the fall

As the days start to get shorter and temperatures start to fall, it is time to prepare your closet for the fall. The first day of fall in the northern hemisphere is September 22. However, in some places, they could start to experience the fall weather much sooner.

That means you might need to start preparing your closet for this change of season sooner than later. Our team has compiled a list of ways to prepare your closet for the fall and where to donate clothes in Omaha.

STORE YOUR SUMMER CLOTHING AWAY

Would it not be nice if you could wear shorts and short-sleeved shirts all through fall and winter? Although this is possible in warmer states, it is not in the midwest. One way to prepare your closet for the fall weather is by storing away your summer clothes. You want to remove any clothes that would be unsuitable for low temperatures, rain, chilly winds and possible snow.

TAKE OUT YOUR FALL CLOTHING

Now that you have stored your summer clothes away, you have enough room to add your fall clothes. Your fall clothing should consist of clothing that allows you to layer up and protects you from the weather. Some great fabrics for the colder seasons, like fall and winter, include wool, faux furs, fleece, leather, cotton and corduroy. Do not forget about the fall colors. Some fall colors that are on-trend for 2021 include vibrant fuchsias, clay tones and frosty pinks.

SHOP FOR MISSING FALL CLOTHING ESSENTIALS

When sorting through your existing fall clothes, did you notice you were missing some pieces? If so, it is time to shop for those missing items before you actually need them. A good place to shop for fall items is at your local thrift store. These stores always carry a wide variety of clothes for every season. Plus, items are always affordable, so you do not have to pay the high retail price.

Some clothing pieces that are must-have during fall and can be found in thrift stores include:

  • Blazers
  • Denim Jackets
  • Leather jackets
  • Sweaters
  • Hoodies
  • Blouses
  • Long sleeve shirts
  • Jeans

BRING OUT THE BOOTS

Depending on where you live, the weather can be wet and cold. The last thing you want is to step into a puddle of cold water with open-toed shoes. When preparing your wardrobe for fall, be sure also to bring out your pair of boots. Whether they are long or short, boots can protect your feet from unpredictable weather.

DECLUTTER YOUR CLOSET

As you put away your summer clothes or put out your fall clothes, you might have come across some clothes you no longer want. Instead of tossing out the clothes you do not want or no longer fit, donate them. Where to donate clothes in Omaha? You can take your clothing donations to a thrift store. There the clothes can get reused by someone else, and this process helps reduce textile waste.
