William Hamilton (After)
January and February (from The Months series)
Hand-Colored Engravings on Paper
15" x 17" (Framed)
Unsigned

This elegant pair of hand-colored engravings depicts the months of January and February, based on the celebrated series by English painter William Hamilton (1751–1801). "January" portrays a charming winter scene with figures ice skating and socializing on a frozen pond, while "February" captures early spring agricultural labor with figures near a cottage and oxen plowing in the distance. Published by the renowned firm of John & Josiah Boydell in London, these works exemplify the refined genre scenes of the late 18th-century English school, rendered with soft stipple textures and a delicate palette of earthy tones and muted primaries.

• Professionally housed in deep-set sage green mats with high-quality gold gilt frames
• Verso retains original labels identifying the months and the Boydell publication credits
• Framed by Bobbitt's Artistic Picture Framing of Omaha, Nebraska
• Each frame measures approximately 15" W x 17" H x 2" D

Condition: Very good vintage condition. The prints exhibit minor age-appropriate toning consistent with their era but remain crisp with vibrant hand-coloring. The frames show light surface wear and minor gilt loss at the corners, while the glazing and matting remain secure and well-presented.
