FUNDRAISING
Partner with Thrift World to organize donation drives that make a difference in your community while generating funds for your cause.
Steps to Organizing a Donation Drive
Build a Team
First things first—assemble your squad. Who's in? A donation drive is a great excuse to pull in coworkers, volunteers, or that one guy from HR who's always looking for ways to help. You'll need a crew to find a local partner, haul donations, and (let's be honest) do most of the heavy lifting. Choose wisely.
Create a Plan
With your dream team and local partner ready, it's time to get organized. Choose a donation drop-off spot—could be your office, local business, or even the parking lot of your favorite coffee shop. Set a timeframe, but maybe skip the 5 AM donation window (people like their sleep).
Now for the details—what are you collecting, and how should people drop it off? Boxes, bags, or the trunk of their car? Let 'em know. And, of course, here's what Thrift World will happily take off your hands (because we love treasure):
What We Accept
Set Goals
It's time to set some goals and challenge your team. How many coats, shoes, or gently used but still fabulous items can your business collect? It's kind of like setting a New Year's resolution, except this one's way more fun (and no one's quitting after two weeks). A goal gives everyone something to aim for—and hey, it helps motivate those coworkers who love a good competition.
Pro tip: Get your neighbors and friends involved. That's what we call bonus points.
Promote Your Donation Drive
You've got the plan, the team, and the goal. Now it's time to make some noise. Let people know what you're up to by hitting social media hard—create a Facebook event, post weekly donation updates, and maybe throw in some cute dog pictures to really grab attention.
And once you've crushed your drive, don't forget to say thanks. Social media loves a good success story (and so do we).
Getting Paid for the Drive
Here's the part you've been waiting for—getting paid. After the drive is done, a Thrift World pro will report back with the total weight of the donations collected (don't worry, we've got the scales). Expect your check within 30 days, so sit tight—you've earned it.
