Wood and Metal Yarn Spindles
Industrial Textile Style, Early to Mid-20th Century
This pair of wooden yarn spindles or bobbins features a classic industrial design historically used in weaving and spinning mills. Constructed from dense hardwood with a dark-stained patina, these pieces showcase the functional aesthetic of early industrial textile production. The tapered, ribbed bases were designed to secure large quantities of yarn or thread, while the hollow-bore centers and brass-lined apertures allowed for mounting on high-speed spindles with reduced friction wear.
• Turned hardwood construction with an aged dark finish
• Deeply ribbed conical bases for thread retention with hollow center bore
• Multiple shaft apertures reinforced with brass-tone metal ferrules
• Set includes two (2) matching industrial spindles
• Approximate dimensions: 12" H x 2.5" Base Diameter
Condition: Good vintage condition with natural patina and wear consistent with age and industrial service. Surfaces show minor scuffs, light surface scratches, and some small chips to the dark finish at the rims and bases. The metal inserts are secure and intact. No cracks or significant structural damage visible.
