4" H x 4.5" W

This compelling terracotta sculpture depicts a seated couple, rendered in a style reminiscent of Pre-Columbian art from the West Mexico cultures of Nayarit or Colima. The two figures are joined together, featuring stylized bodies, distinctive headdresses, and incised facial features. The hand-modeled form and unglazed, earthy red-brown surface are characteristic of ancient ceramic traditions, capturing a primitive and expressive quality. This piece could be an authentic antiquity or a later vintage work created in the traditional manner.

• The figures display unique head adornments; one with a flat-top and the other with a fanned, striated headdress.
• Detailed with incised lines to delineate eyes, mouths, and decorative collars.
• The sculpture is hollow-formed from earthenware clay with a matte, unglazed finish.
• Approximate dimensions are 4" tall, 4.5" wide, and 2.5" deep.

Condition: Good vintage condition. The sculpture is structurally sound with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some surface dirt and patina consistent with age and material. The finish is intentionally rustic and unrefined, which is inherent to its style.
