Sterling
Model 165A Electric Ice Cream Freezer
Harvest Gold Plastic, Aluminum Canister, Circa 1970s

This vintage Sterling 5-quart ice cream freezer was manufactured by the Richmond Cedar Works (RCW) Manufacturing Corporation of Danville, Virginia. A staple of mid-to-late 20th-century American kitchens, this model features the iconic harvest gold color palette and a durable electric motor designed to take the manual labor out of home-churned desserts. The appliance represents the transition from traditional wood-slat buckets to modern, easy-to-clean molded plastics while maintaining the classic canister-and-dasher mechanism.

• 5 Quart capacity suitable for large family-style batches
• Electric top-mount motor unit with original Catalog No. 165A identification label
• Complete set including molded plastic outer bucket, aluminum freezing canister, and plastic dasher/paddle
• Includes original vintage retail box with period-appropriate graphic design and instructions

Condition: Good vintage condition overall. The plastic bucket and motor housing show light surface scuffing but no cracks or structural damage. The aluminum canister exhibits some surface oxidation and darkening consistent with age and exposure to salt/ice. The plastic dasher is intact with minor staining. The motor has been tested and is functional. The original cardboard box shows significant shelf wear, age-related staining, and some compression, but remains structurally intact.
