Antique US Military Buttons Lot 2 US Eagle Great Seal Scovill Waterbury
Scovill Mfg Co. & Unmarked US Military Buttons
US Eagle Great Seal Uniform Buttons, 2 Pieces
Brass and Blackened Metal, Approx. 0.88 Inch, Antique
Pair of collectible United States military uniform buttons featuring the iconic Great Seal eagle motif. This lot includes one brass button manufactured by the renowned Scovill Mfg Co. in Waterbury, Connecticut, alongside a second button in a blackened or dark patinated finish. These pieces are significant artifacts of American military history, typically associated with late 19th to early 20th-century service uniforms.
• Features the Great Seal of the United States with eagle, shield, arrows, and olive branch
• One brass button with "Scovill Mfg Co. Waterbury" backstamp clearly visible
• One darkened metal button with similar motif and no visible maker mark on reverse
• Both buttons equipped with original integrated loop shanks for attachment
• Dimensions: Approximately 0.88 inch (22mm) in diameter per piece
Condition: Both buttons exhibit age-appropriate wear and natural patina. The brass Scovill button shows surface tarnish and expected softening of detail on the high points of the eagle crest. The blackened button has substantial surface darkening and light oxidation consistent with antique metal. Loop shanks are firmly attached but show surface wear and corrosion. No structural breaks or repairs are present.
