Walker Hall Acme Silver Plate Bottle Holder Adjustable Wine Stand Vintage
Walker & Hall
Patent Acme Bottle Holder - Silver Plate
Sheffield, England - Late 19th/Early 20th Century
This antique Walker & Hall Patent Acme bottle holder is a prime example of late Victorian mechanical tableware. Walker & Hall, established in Sheffield in 1845, was a premier manufacturer of electroplated silver, and this adjustable stand was designed to securely hold and tilt wine or champagne bottles during table service. The piece features intricate engravings including a central shield with a tree motif and classic floral scrollwork, reflecting the ornate aesthetics of the era.
• Stamped "PATENT ACME BOTTLE HOLDER" with an illustrative bottle icon on the interior base
• Hallmarked "WH & S BP" identifying Walker & Hall, Sheffield, British Plate (silver plate)
• Features an adjustable mechanical arm with a screw-thread height setting for various bottle sizes
• Decorative engravings present on the bottle neck collar and the base rim
Condition: Good antique condition with moderate to heavy tarnish throughout, providing a rich aged patina. The silver plating shows wear-through to the base metal, particularly visible on the central post. Several minor dents and surface scratches are present on the base. The mechanical adjustment remains functional.
