This striking decorative mask is crafted in the style of Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican funerary art, reminiscent of historical Aztec or Mayan mosaic works. It features a tessellated surface of polished blue-dyed stone tiles, accented with iridescent abalone shell inlays that catch the light. The entire piece is coated in a thick, glossy resin and is mounted on a simple black base for display, making it a compelling piece of vintage Mexican folk art.
• The dramatic contrast between the turquoise-colored stone and the shimmering abalone shell creates a visually dynamic effect.
• Composed of individually cut and fitted stone tesserae, a technique inspired by ancient artifacts.
• Mounted on a black wooden stand measuring approximately 3.5" x 3.5" for stable tabletop presentation.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The surface has a glossy resin coating which shows age-related craquelure and fine cracking, but the mosaic itself is stable. Some stone pieces have natural fissures. No major chips or missing pieces noted. Please review all photos for details.
