This ornate pedestal stand from the Forbes Silver Co. exemplifies the intricate metalwork of the late Victorian and early Art Nouveau periods. Founded in 1894 in Meriden, Connecticut, as part of the Meriden Britannia Co., Forbes Silver Co. became one of the original constituent companies of the International Silver Company in 1898. This piece features a deeply recessed bowl with elaborate reticulated floral motifs and a classic pedestal base, suitable for use as a cake stand, fruit compote, or centerpiece.
