Thrift World Partner: Paralyzed Veterans of America Great Plains Chapter

Veteran’s Day is celebrated on November 11. On this day, U.S. veterans are honored for their duties and services to the United States Armed Forces.

To celebrate this special Day, Thrift World wants to share one of our partners - Paralyzed Veterans of America Great Plains Chapter. This nonprofit organization is one of the many nonprofits that we support and that helps us collect item donations.

Before you start searching for donation bins near me, here is what this nonprofit does and how Thrift World is helping their mission.

What is the Paralyzed Veterans of America Great Plains Chapter?

This nonprofit is one of the 34 Paralyzed Veterans of America Chapters across the United States. It assists paralyzed veterans and people with spinal cord injuries and disabilities in the Nebraska, Western Iowa and Kansas area by improving their quality of life.

The history of the Paralyzed Veterans of America Great Plains Chapter

The start of the Paralyzed Veterans of America goes back to World War II. A group of soldiers came back from war with spinal cord injuries. They soon realized that there was a lack of resources available to them for navigating through daily life.

Thus, this group of service members created the Paralyzed Veterans of America. This nonprofit dedicated their time to serving veterans, medical research, advocacy and civil rights for people with disabilities.
